What if the life you want starts with the way you show up today?
Picture this. You’ve got a big goal. Maybe it’s a new career, a business idea, or finally feeling at home in a healthier, stronger body. You think about it constantly. You talk about it with your partner, your friends, your journal. You’ve got the vision board and the Pinterest folder. You know what you want.
Then one day, you duck into town wearing your oldest trackies and a stained T-shirt, hair scraped back, feeling a bit blah. “No one to impress,” you tell yourself. “I’m only grabbing milk.”
And that’s the day you bump into her. The woman who’s hiring for your dream role. The investor you’ve been hoping to meet. The old friend who’s just started the exact kind of business you’d love to be part of. She smiles, says hello, and asks what you’re up to these days.
And in that moment, who does she meet? The woman you’re becoming, or the woman you’re trying to leave behind?
It’s not really about the trackies
Let’s be clear. Nobody needs to look polished every time they leave the house. Some days are trackie days, and that’s absolutely okay. This is about something much deeper.
It’s about the gap between the woman you say you’re becoming and the woman you’re actually being in your everyday life. I call this an energetic mismatch.
We can spend so much time visualising the life we want, setting intentions and talking about our goals, yet continue showing up in ways that don’t align with the future we’re trying to create.
We do it with our health all the time. We want to feel fit, energised and confident. We want to feel comfortable in our bodies, have a healthier relationship with food, and wake up feeling like we have something left to give. But we keep waiting.
We tell ourselves we’ll start when life settles down, when we have more time, when motivation finally arrives, or when we feel more confident. We’re waiting to become her before we start living like her. And that’s where we can get stuck.
Stop waiting for the future version of you
Think about the woman you want to become. How does she move through her day? How does she respond when life gets stressful? What does her relationship with food, her body and herself look like? Does she speak to herself with kindness, or constantly criticise herself? Does she make space for her own needs, or put everyone else first until she has nothing left?
These questions aren’t about getting everything right. They’re about recognising that the life we want is often shaped by the small decisions we make repeatedly.
The woman you’re becoming doesn’t need to be perfect. She might go for a walk even when the weather isn’t ideal. She might choose a nourishing meal because she wants to support her energy, rather than punish herself for what she ate yesterday. She might put her phone down, take a few deep breaths and give herself permission to rest. She might recognise that the way she speaks to herself matters just as much as the goals she’s chasing.
Most importantly, she learns to look after herself because she values herself, not because she believes she needs fixing.
You don’t have to wait until you feel confident to start treating yourself with respect. You don’t have to reach your goal weight to feel worthy of looking after your body. And you don’t have to have your entire life figured out before you start making choices that support the life you want. You can begin now.
Your daily habits are shaping your future
Here’s where the real shift happens. Instead of asking, “How do I get there?”, start asking yourself: “What is one thing I can do today that aligns with the woman I want to become?”
Not ten things. Not an entire life overhaul. Just one intentional choice.
Maybe it’s moving your body because it helps you feel stronger and more connected to yourself. Maybe it’s nourishing yourself properly instead of running on coffee and whatever you can grab between everyone else’s needs. Maybe it’s setting a boundary, asking for help, or finally making time for something you’ve been putting off. Perhaps it’s noticing the inner critic and choosing not to believe every negative thought it offers you.
These choices might seem small, but they help you build something important: self-trust. Every time you follow through on a commitment that matters to you, you give yourself another reason to believe that you can rely on yourself. Over time, those small actions begin to shape not only your habits, but also your identity.
You stop being someone who is always trying to get healthier and start becoming someone who actively prioritises her wellbeing. You stop waiting to feel confident and start practising confidence through the way you show up. You stop putting your own life on hold and begin participating in it.
This is how change becomes something you live, rather than something you are constantly chasing.
What about manifestation?
There’s a reason visualisation, intention-setting and creating a vision for your future can feel so powerful. When you get clear on what you want, you give yourself something to move towards. You may begin noticing opportunities, making different decisions and recognising possibilities that previously passed you by.
But visualising a different life is only part of the process. You also need to create space for that life through the choices you make today. Think of it as aligning your intentions, your mindset and your actions.
You can visualise feeling calm and confident, but you also need to practise responding to yourself with compassion when things don’t go to plan. You can envision a healthier body, but you also need to support it with nourishment, movement, rest and habits that work for your actual life. You can dream about a business, career or opportunity, but you also need to take the steps that make it possible.
You cannot control every outcome, and life will always bring unexpected challenges. But you can influence how you show up, what you prioritise and the opportunities you’re prepared to pursue.
You don’t create change by wishing your current self away. You create it by becoming more intentional about the person you’re practising being every day.
This is the heart of Becoming Her
This is exactly why I created Becoming Her: The Modern Woman’s Blueprint for Hormones, Energy and Optimal Health.
Because becoming the woman you want to be isn’t just about what you eat, how you move or how you look. It’s about understanding the patterns that keep you stuck, recognising the mental load you’re carrying, and learning how your mindset, daily habits and relationship with yourself influence the way you feel and show up in the world.
It’s about bringing together practical nutrition, mindset and whole-person wellbeing strategies to help you feel more informed, empowered and intentional about your health. And it’s about giving yourself permission to stop putting yourself last.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or like you’re constantly reacting to life rather than intentionally creating it, this is your invitation to do something differently. You don’t need another list of things you should be doing. You need the space, knowledge and support to work out what matters to you and how to start putting it into practice.
That’s what we’ll explore together at Becoming Her.
Event details: Saturday 7 November, 2:30–4:30 pm | The Old Vicarage Cafe, 335 Halswell Road, Christchurch | Tickets: $39.97.

One question to take with you
Imagine that your dream opportunity crossed your path today. The career you’ve been dreaming about. The connection you’ve been hoping for. The chance to step into something you’ve always wanted.
Who would they meet? And more importantly, what is one small choice you could make today that would bring you closer to the woman you want to become?
You don’t have to wait for Monday, next month, or the perfect moment. You can start with the next decision you make.
Come as you are. Start where you are. And remember, becoming her isn’t about turning into someone else. It’s about building a life that feels more aligned with the woman you know you can be.
With warmth,
